Your API key and credits

• Your API key is in the welcome email we sent when you bought credits. Keep it private, like a password.
• One credit is one record returned. Calls that return nothing cost nothing, and credits never expire.
• Every API response shows the credits charged and remaining, and GET /api/credits returns your balance. Top up any time on the pricing page.
• Lost your key, or think someone else has it? Email us and we will issue a new one. The old key, and every link and connection that used it, stops working straight away.

Use BasketWatch in ChatGPT or Claude

BasketWatch connects to AI assistants through the Model Context Protocol (MCP).

• Without an account: compare a product's current price across Aldi, Tesco, SuperValu and Dunnes Stores, free.
• With an account: when your assistant asks you to connect, enter your account email and we email you a 6-digit code. No API key needed. Every tool is then available: product search, promotions, price changes, new and removed lines, and barcode lookup. Each record your assistant pulls uses credits from your account, exactly as the API does.
• New to BasketWatch? The same code creates your free account. Credits bought on this website with the same email are added to it.
• Personal link: your welcome email also has a link with your key built in, for assistants that ask only for an address. Treat it like your key.
• Disconnecting: remove BasketWatch in your assistant's settings. To cut off every connection at once, ask us for a new key.

All the tools only read data; none can change anything. Setup for developers is in the API reference.

Questions about the data

• Prices are the prices each retailer displays online, collected every night. In-store prices can differ.
• How the data is collected, matched and checked is set out in our methodology. Common questions are answered in the FAQ.
• Spotted a wrong price or a bad match? Email us the product name, the store and what you expected to see, and we will look into it.
• Nutrition and ingredients are for information only. Always check the pack, and never rely on them for allergy, dietary or medical decisions.
